Ana Prvački (b. 1976, Serbia) is a Los Angeles-based artist whose work draws on daily practices and social research. Her interventions are meant to transform the viewer’s perception and experience of daily life and routine, providing solutions to our everyday problems, worries, and fears. She explores social anxiety and the comedic potential of faux pas as well as the sociopolitical significance of welcoming the “other.” In her videos, services, concoctions and drawings, she uses a gently pedagogical and comedic approach in an attempt to reconcile etiquette and erotics. Prvački has produced a series of ideas catalogues (Ananatural Production catalogues) with the intention of filing and documenting her imagination. Some of the thoughts have been realized as performances. She has shown in numerous international venues including: SMART Museum (Chicago), Bloomberg (NY), Lombard-Freid Projects (NY), Art in General (NY), Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum (Boston), Centre Pompidou (Paris), Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea (Turin), Sydney Biennial, Singapore Biennial, the Turin Triennale and 2017 Chicago Architecture Biennial.
Flowering Under Stress presents a wide selection of works from Ana Prvački’s daily watercolor practice that began during the COVID-19 pandemic. It guides us through the inner and outer landscapes of our recent years, as we grappled the complex emotions of a world turned upside down.
A therapeutic visual journey that reveals Prvački's signature playful wit, the watercolors address current conversations on history, ecology, sexuality, technology, self care and mental health. Offering an imaginative and improvisational approach to the world, Flowering Under Stress encourages us to recognize our shared humanity and to look for hope and possibility in unlikely places.

SO-IL + ana prvački create air-filtering outfits for chicago architecture biennial performance by Philip Stevens
during the opening week of the 2017 chicago architecture biennial, architecture studio SO-IL and artist ana prvački are debuting a musical performance piece titled 'l'air pour l'air'. as part of the project, which aims to ensure the continued legacy of musicians as the world's cities grow more polluted, the collaborative design team has created an ensemble of mesh enclosures. each piece has been conceived as part mask, part shelter, and is designed to clean and filter the air through breathing.
presented as one of the chicago architecture biennial's special projects, the four SO-IL-designed enclosures — named 'flute' 'saxophone' 'voice' and 'trombone' — will be worn by the respective members of the chicago sinfonietta. through performing an original composition, created by veronika krausas, the musicians will 'clean the air that produces the music'. 'the installation and performance encourage its viewers to meditate upon the complex notions such as the relationship between purity and pollution, and the distinctions between self, body, objects, and nature,' explains the design team.
the main exhibition is free and open to the public from september 16, 2017 through january 7, 2018.
