Various Untitled Works by artist Diana Thater, offers a portal into a 2020 domestic garden in Altadena, California. Alternating between sky and ground, the recordings portray the details of a patch of earth and the expanse of clouds passing over it. The garden features photo-reactive flowers, which blossom at dawn and close at night, animating the day. The dynamics of the wind and shifting natural light tie the ground and sky together while cosmic time, geologic time, and anthropocentric time are evoked. The artwork is particularly poignant now, as it transports us to a time before the Eaton Fire, when this garden still existed. Presented every 20 minutes on the digital billboard at 8501 Sunset Boulevard (Sun Cienega).
